Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu 5 days.

Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu 5 days, this impressive trekking passes under the magnificent Salkantay Mountain, so we recommend you to enjoy this great experience with us.

Our five-day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu is perfect for adventurers looking to experience visiting beautiful ever-changing landscapes of Peru. Day by day you will travel through ecosystems: from magical landscapes and snowy mountains to a tropical paradise. Along the way, you will see a wide variety of wildlife, medicinal plants, and a variety of flower varieties. Witness, with your own eyes, a living and ancient culture, in remote villages rarely visited by foreigners. We are hiking through the Cordillera Vilcabamba. This is an impressive mountain range that spreads for more than 260 km.

The snowy Salkantay rises to 6271 meters (20574 fasl) high. The prominent Salkantay peak is located less than fifty miles northwest of the city of Cusco, in south-central Peru. It is considered a Sacred Mountain by many locals and has been climbed by professional mountaineers since 1952.

Due to its high altitude and steep slopes, you will need a reasonable level of fitness to complete the Salkantay Trek. But age shouldn’t be a barrier! The most important thing is to be well acclimatized to the altitude. The highest point to be reached on the hike is (4,650 masl – 15092 FASL). We recommend at least two days of acclimatization before your trip. This is an ideal time to visit the city of Cusco, its nearby Inca ruins, and the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

The Salkantay Trek is an ancient and secluded trail located in the same area as the Inca Trail, where huge frost-covered mountains infringe upon the abundant rainforest. It is one of the most interesting and important alternatives of the Inca Trail due to its wide diversity of flora, various ecosystems, remote Andean villages, view of the Salkantay snow-capped mountain, as well as the LLactapata site located on top of a mountain, just behind Machu Pichu mountain.
