Highlights
Lima is not only Peru’s largest city, but one of the largest in South America, and its sprawling coastal suburbs and bustling commercial center can be overwhelming for first-time visitors. Three days are enough to enjoy the highlights, with time to admire the great squares of downtown, explore the artistic district of Barranco and visit the beaches and shopping malls of Miraflores.
This is a short 3-day excursion from Lima to the Pacific coastal city of Paracas and the impressive desert oasis of Huacachina. In Paracas, sail to Peru’s “poor man’s Galapagos” and visit the impressive coastal National Reserve. In Huacachina, combine Sandboarding / Dunebuggying with a visit to a local Pisco vineyard. Day 01: Pick up from airport - hotel Lima
Arrival in the city of Lima and transfer to the hotel.
CITY TOUR OLD LIMA – MODERN LIMA
guided tour of the most important and attractive places in Lima, the “City of Kings”. The tour includes a visit to the Historic Center of Lima, panoramic view of the Plaza San Martin, Plaza Mayor, Government Palace, Cathedral Basilica, Archbishop’s Palace, Municipal Palace, Santo Domingo Church, where the tombs of Santa Rosa and San Martin de Porres are located, and balconies of Colonial Lima. Then you will visit the Convent and Church of San Francisco, the largest monumental complex of Colonial Art in America and a World Cultural Heritage Site.
The tour includes a visit to the Basilica with 21 altars, a convent with cloisters and chapter and clementine halls, the monks’ choir and library, the site museum exhibiting 11 canvases from the school of Rubens, the Sacristy with canvases by Surbarán and Rivera, the large courtyard decorated with 16th century Sevillian tiles, Moorish arches and subway catacombs.
Then we will visit the residential districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, passing by the Huaca Pucllana, Ceremonial and Administrative Center of the Lima Culture, built in the second century AD. and considered by the Incas as Ñaupallaqta, “Sacred Town”; El Olivar de San Isidro Park, with olive trees brought from Spain in the 15th century; the Central Park of Miraflores and Larcomar, tourist and entertainment center, symbol of Modern Lima and privileged point to appreciate a spectacular panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.
Day 02: Tours to Pachacamac | Visit Barranco and Pantanos de Villa
PACHACAMAC ANCESTRAL SHRINES
Our tour begins in Miraflores with a panoramic view of the “Huaca Pucllana”, considered “Sacred Town” by the Incas.
ORACLE OF PACHACAMAC
Guided visit to the splendid Citadel of Pachacamac, sanctuary of the God Pachacamac, creator of the universe for the ancient Andean people. The citadel includes temples, pyramids and palaces. Highlights include the “Temple of the Sun”, the “Temple of Pachacamac”, the “Acllahuasi” or “Palace of the Virgins of the Sun”, among others. The whole place was considered sacred and part of the mystical axis of the world.
RAVINE AND MARSHES OF VILLA
Our excursion includes a visit to the traditional and bohemian district of Barranco, with its famous Bridge of Sighs, continuing to El Salto del Fraile, Pantanos de Villa Wildlife Refuge and enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean.
Return to Lima and transfer to hotel.
Day 03: Transportation hotel - Lima Airport
After enjoying breakfast at the coordinated time, transfer to the airport or bus station.
How to get to Lima – Peru?
Lima is the capital of Peru and is located on the Pacific coast of the country. Although its colonial center has been preserved, it is a bustling metropolis and one of the largest in South America. The Larco Museum houses pre-Columbian art, while the National Museum displays the history of Peru’s ancient civilizations. The Plaza de Armas and its 16th-century cathedral form the core of Lima’s old town.
Getting to Lima from any other country is totally easy, you just have to buy international flights from your country of origin to the Jorge Chavez Airport in Lima, from here you can move to any other point of the country, you can buy local flights to Cusco, Arequipa, Puno, Tarapoto, Puerto Maldonado, Cajamarca, Ayacucucho, or any other national destination of interest.
